Creating a database is not difficult for experienced webmasters, but it does involve doing three separate actions:

1. Create an SQL database
2. Create an SQL user
3. Associate the user with the database

Some web hosts now have a "wizard" that guides you through the three actions, but it is still quite techie

This process confuses new webmasters and means that many give up installing the script.

And even experienced webmasters sometimes make silly mistakes in the process.

To use the tool, you first pick a suitable name for the new database. Most people just enter the name of the script, but you can use any name you want. The database name allows you to identify the database, so if you have several databases on your website, you can tell what each one is for.

You also need to enter your domain name of your website (for example mysite.com), plus the user name and password for your web host (the same user name and password you use for FTP and for accessing the web host control panel). This information is remembered, to make it easier to create additional databases in the future.

Once you've entered the details, just click the Create button and the software will instantly build the database on your web host.

If you are installing other scripts, step 3 is a bit more complicated because you need to edit the script config.php file manually using a text editor.

You can still use the SQL Database Builder tool to create your database, but you need to manually copy the SQL database settings (the database name, user name and password) into your script config file.

The SQL Database Builder tool offers simple buttons to copy the settings to the Windows Clipboard, so they can be pasted into the script config file.

The fourth and final step of installation is uploading the script to your website.
